In 2020 Council and Administration recognized the challenges that the pandemic had presented for local businesses and the need to offer alternative solutions to allow our businesses to continue to operate under the provincial response framework. The program allowed local businesses to operate aspects of their business on the sidewalk or on-street parking areas in front of their business. This program continued to support the town-wide reopening of commercial businesses in a practical and safe manner.

In 2021, the program grew with additional businesses taking part in the program and extra activities and entertainment in the streets. This made Open Air a reliable Staycation Destination and created a welcoming community atmosphere.

The 2022 Amherstburg Open Air footprint and hours have altered to accommodate business requests. If you are a business within the footprint we highly encourage your participation.
