Canada Day in Amherstburg is an event you don’t want to miss. On July 1st our town will come alive with patriotic spirit and exciting activities for all ages!
The day will kick off with the 5km Canada Day Run/Walk/Wheel and Kids dash at 9am and continue in Toddy Jones Park with mighty machines, outdoor activities, food trucks, splash pad, and fun throughout the day.
In the Open Air footprint (Richmond, Dalhousie and Murray) event visitors can enjoy live music, interactive games in the streets including our interactive curling game, open patios and local shopping.

2024 EVENT SCHEDULE
- 8am: Splash pad opens
- 9am: Canada Day 5km Run/Walk/Wheel and Kids Dash begins in front of Fort Malden
- 10am – 7pm: Fort Malden National Historic Site opens with free admission for the day
- 11am: Giant curling game along Richmond & Dalhousie.
- 11am – 6pm: Food trucks in Toddy Jones Park
- 11am – 6pm: Children’s crafts and activities
- 12pm – 5pm: Municipal vehicles and Canadian Armed Forces equipment are set up to explore in Toddy Jones Park
- 12pm – 5pm: Scavenger hunt sponsored by James H. Sutton Funeral Home
- 12pm – 6pm: Face painting
- 12pm – 6pm: Sports & Rec games brought to you by Amherstburg’s Recreation Department
- 12pm: Hockey in Toddy Jones Park with Amherstburg Admirals
- 12:30pm: RDA (Rivertown Dance Academy) dance performance in Toddy Jones Park
- 1pm: Citizenship Ceremony in King’s Navy Yard Park
- 1pm: Free cupcakes in Toddy Jones Park
- 1pm – 3pm: Trio Amigos are playing at Musicland
- 4pm: Dog Show with Border City Barkers in Toddy Jones Park
- 6pm: Opening Ceremonies at the King’s Navy Yard Park stage
- 6:30pm: Adam Butcher performs on the stage
- 8:30pm: Buck Twenty performs on the stage
- 10:10pm: Fireworks over the river (extra viewing area at Fort Malden, gates open at 8:30pm)
Canada Day 5km Run/Walk/Wheel
The day kicks off with a 5km Run/Walk/Wheel and Kids dash at 9am in front of Fort Malden National Historic Site.
All registrants will receive a medal and adults will receive a shirt if registered by June 1.
The race event is run by volunteers and all money raised will go back to support the following Amherstburg charities:
- Amherstburg Food and Fellowship Mission
- Bryerswood Youth Camp Optimist Club
- Amherstburg Community Services
Canada Day at Fort Malden
Fort Malden will be open from 10am to 7pm with FREE admission for visitors to experience the Fort!
Celebrate Canada’s 157th anniversary of Confederation with heritage demonstrations and family friendly activities.

Enjoy delicious treats starting at 11am as our food vendors line Toddy Jones Park:
The Richmond Popcorn Co. has the King’s Navy Yard Park stage area covered and will be on site near the concert stage in the evening.

Mighty Machines in Toddy Jones Park
Come tour some of Amherstburg’s municipal vehicles, including police cars, fire trucks, zamboni, lifts, and more!
Plus, Canadian Armed Forces Army Reserve will be bringing vehicles and equipment for the public to engage with.
Join us in Toddy Jones Park from 12-5pm.
Concert in King's Navy Yard Park
Our Canada Day concert returns to the King’s Navy Yard Park stage!
Join us for an evening of live music, featuring talented local performers.
- 6:30pm: Adam Butcher
- 8:30pm: Buck Twenty
Fireworks will begin at 10:10pm after the concert.
